“Countries don’t create economies. It is entrepreneurs and companies that create and revitalise economies. The role of the governments should be to create a nourishing environment for entrepreneurs and companies to flourish.” These words of John Naisbitt– an American author and public speaker– aptly describe not only the potent role that a healthy entrepreneurial eco-system plays in building nations, but also reflects on what fosters entrepreneurship in an economy.

Naisbitt would have approved of the Amity Innovation Incubator (AII), a registered ‘not for profit’ society situated in Noida, with a mission to create and foster the entrepreneurial spirit. The team at AII wishes to promote technology-based start-ups so as to maximise its impact on the economic development of the country.

AII (www.amity.edu/aii) was established in December 2007 by the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, the umbrella organisation of the Amity institutions, with support from the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology, government of India and currently houses twelve start-up ventures on its premises.

AII offers a range of incubation services, such as business planning, company formation, legal and IPR (intellectual property rights) assistance, managerial support, technology support, affordable state-of-the-art infrastructure, venture capital funding, networking, collaborations and alliances, mentors, board members and advisors, training and team development. The aim is to provide a one-stop platform, equipped with all the essential services, to new businesses, enabling them to enter the market with maturity and confidence.

AII is supported by an advisory body comprising industrialists, venture capitalists, technical specialists and managers, that help entrepreneurs realise their dreams by providing them with a range of infrastructural, business advisory, mentoring and financial services. Each company at the incubator is assisted by relevant mentors from AII’s large pool of mentor capital.
